Pupil Premium

What is Pupil Premium

The Pupil Premium is funding that is allocated to schools for pupils from low income families who are eligible to free school meals beyond the current provision for KS1.  Schools are able to use this funding as they see fit, but are required to report on how the money was spent.

Principles informing the use of the Pupil Premium Grant (PPG)

  • School provision should meet the needs of all learners.

  • A range of factors can be used to categorise pupils as being socially disadvantaged, including eligibility for free school meals (FSM) and being looked after by the Local Authority (LAC).

  • Pupils eligible for FSM can sometimes have other barriers to learning such as special educational needs.

  • The school will do the utmost to ensure that vulnerable and disadvantaged pupils have their needs quickly identified and addressed.

  • The PPG will be allocated to priority groups and individuals to provide support and intervention to accelerate learning.  Actions will be time limited and closely monitored for impact.

  • From time to time, where capacity allows, other pupils with similar needs may be included in target groups such as Nurture, which support children to be emotionally ready to learn.
