Welcome to Westgate’s Out of School Hours Clubs
WOOSH
We are an outgoing and energetic after school club, where children feel safe and involved. They enjoy all the different activities that are provided.
After snacks, there is an opportunity for free play including outdoor equipment and activities. There is ample scope for imaginative play and always the favourites of hama beads, collage, drawing, scalextric, cars etc. The supervising adults give opportunities for extra activities, often linked with the Scholastic calendar of yearly events. For example: February was Healthy Hearts month, so we had exercise activities (skipping, Wii Just Dance, musical statues etc.) and an on-going display linked to what makes a heart healthy.
We make time to talk and play games with the children often expanding on their interests in the planned activities.
Westgate After School Club is open every school day 3.15 – 5.30pm in the pre-school building. We also have a Breakfast Club that runs from 8.00am – school begins. It is in the computer suite and the hall. At After School Club we offer a variety of snacks. The supervising adults for the clubs are Miss Milburn, Mrs Heritage, Mr Wolff and Mrs Boyle. All the adults also work in school so know the children really well.

What our parents say
“It is great to see the children making things. My son loves making his own crafts at After School Club.” –parent of Year 4 child.
“I find the food provision very healthy and my girls love it.” –parent of Y3 and Y5 children.
“A lot of effort, care and consideration go into the club. There is a wide range of activities for the children, helping with their education, social skills and mental stimulation. I am impressed with the variety of healthy food available and think it is very good that the children are involved in making their own snacks. My child always talks about the different things she has been doing at the club. She particularly enjoys dressing up.” –parent of Y2 child.
“Many thanks for the care you give re. my son’s food allergies. I also find it great that outdoor activity is valued even in these winter months. You do a marvellous job with the space you have, both inside and out. And it is refreshing to see that you have periodic reviews of what the club has to offer.” –parent of Y4 child. |
